History of National Photographic Purchase Award - national

The Albury City Council National Photography Prize was founded in 1983 after the Albury Art Gallery's Committee of Management decided to make the collection of Australian Photography a major part of its Collection. Gael Newton and Helen Ennis from the National Gallery of Australia advised on the establishment of the award and selected the body of work shown in that year. Entries are now open for the 2010 National Photography Prize with the theme: 'Modern Narratives: Photography as Story Teller'.

Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award 2010

Any print or artist’s book made in the past two years is eligible to enter the Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award (formerly the Fremantle Print Award). Artists working with any process are encouraged to enter a print or artist’s book in this key event.  Established in 1976, the FAC Print Award raises the benchmark of contemporary printmaking. Exquisite lino prints stand alongside contemporary works that push the boundaries of the craft—each in the running for the $12 000 acquisitive prize.

Rick Amor Drawing Prize - national

The Art Gallery of Ballarat has called for entries for the 2010 inaugural annual Rick Amor Drawing Prize of $10,000. What sets the Rick Amor Drawing Prize apart from other similar competitions is the size limit on drawings, no larger than 76 x 56cm, to allow the viewer to experience each drawing without the distraction of competing scale. The winning entry, to be announced on 24 September 2010, will become part of the Art Gallery of Ballarat's permanent collection. Rick Amor was born in Frankston, Victoria, in 1948, and became an artist-in-residence at Trades Hall Council in Melbourne. He has had regular exhibitions in city and country galleries and centres, and has worked in London, New York, Sydney, Melbourne and Barcelona.

Tamworth Textile Triennial, 2011 - national

Expressions of interest by 30 July 2010

Expressions of interest are being sought for the 1st Tamworth Textile Triennial, to be held in September 2011. The Tamworth Textile Triennial will build on the tradition of the Tamworth Fibre Textile Biennials, showcasing the work of contemporary textile artists. It will provide a forum to explore current issues and trends in textile practice in Australia. Tamworth Regional Gallery will work to develop stronger links with Asia and is committed to building the profile of the exhibition and engaging with a wider audience.

Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize - national

Entries by 6 August 2010

The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize celebrates 10 years in 2010. It is the only national acquisitive prize that showcases the quality and diversity of sculptures of up to 80cm in any dimension. Over 400 entries from artists are received annually and finalists' works are exhibited at the Redleaf Council Chambers in Double Bay, Sydney. Prizes for the 2010 award total $13,000 and include: The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, an acquisitive award of $10,000; The Special Commendation, a non-acquisitive award of $2,000; The Viewers' Choice, a non-acquisitive award of $1,000. The 2010 entry form will be available from 1 May.

Bushfire photo help

MAP Group members are looking to source prints from family or friends of bushfire victims, to copy them digitally and provide images on CD to the victims. MAP Group would also like to photograph families who have lost their homes and provide them with prints to re-start their family photo collections.
