ausculture newsletter July 2006

----------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Australia's Culture and Recreation Portal Newsletter for July 2006.
----------------------------------------------------------------

July is a 'pearler' of a month which sees Australian Indigenous artists fêted in Paris with the opening of the Musée du Quai Branly. This focus on architectural fabric extends to 'Blurring the Boundaries: Fashion Design Innovation in Contemporary Knitting', a Craft Australia exhibition in Sydney and, the 'The Leonardo da Vinci Machines' showing in Melbourne.

The idea of exploring a city's cultural spaces is part of this year's Brisbane Festival while Canberra is offering a more introspective option with the Canberra Games Festival. Western Australians have the opportunity to enjoy the spectacle and challenge of water craft navigating the 134 km Multiplex Avon Descent.

Emerging writers and young artists are offered two 'pearls' of opportunities with the online project AustralianReader.com and entry to the 2006 Yvonne Cohen Award for Creative Indigenous Australian Youth.
