Blast Magazine is funded to pay writers in 2006, thanks to artsACT. The deadline for Blast #3 is 31 January 2006; and for Blast #4, 15 August 2006. Guidelines on application. A limited number of Blast #2 are still available for purchase.

Popcorn Taxi Flagfall Film Festival - call for entries - national
Filmmakers are invited to send in films up to 3 minutes in length for the Popcorn Taxi Flagfall Film Festival.
Sixteen finalists will be selected for public screenings, both on the big screen and on touch screens in Melbourne taxis. The films can be old or new, narrative or not, shot on the family video or on Super 35mm, as long as they are within the realms of a PG classification.
Deadline for entries is 31 January.

Digital Storytelling Conference - Melbourne
First Person: International Digital Storytelling Conference runs from 3-5 February 2006 in Melbourne, Victoria. First Person will showcase digital storytelling as a new cinema of personal portrait, engage with story as an interactive practice and investigate the use of technology as a potential to share meaningful stories as a global community.

Sally Gabori at Woolloongabba Art Gallery - Queensland
Woolloongabba Art Gallery presents 'Sally's Story', featuring works on canvas by Sally Gabori, from Mornington Island Arts and Crafts.
Sally Gabori's art is described as being linked with her family, her tribe and her remarkable personal history. The exhibition represents the 'late and unforseeable outpouring of artistic talent' from a person who saw European contact in her lifetime. The exhibition will run from 1-19 February 2006.

The Look Of The Games - Melbourne

Illawarra Folk Club and Folk Festival - Bulli, NSW
The Illawarra Folk Club and Folk Festival is on 26-29 January at the Bulli Showgrounds - just 10kms from Wollongong, NSW. There will a cast of over 350 including musicians, poets, yarn spinners, choirs, bands, singer/songwriters, instrument makers and dancers and over 100 concerts, dances, workshops, spoken word events, street theatre and a Central Village Green.
